February 20 - Day of Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred

Ukraine, which we all know and love, could not exist now if it were not for the feat of the people who came to the Maidan at the end of 2013. They came out and were ready to stand to the last - even when they were shot by the henchmen of the criminal regime. And in memory of all those who gave their lives for Ukraine to turn from the path of totalitarianism and dependence on the Russian Federation, we celebrate February 20 as the Day of Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred. And Guide Online will now tell you about this event in more detail, as well as suggest a couple of greetings that you can share with your friends, relatives and loved ones.

History of the Day of Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred

We will not describe in detail the background of the "Revolution of Dignity", as the events of late 2013-early 2014 were later called. Many of our readers remember them well, if they did not participate in them themselves.

The first heroes who were later included in the list of the Heavenly Hundred are Serhiy Nigoyan and Mykhailo Zhiznevskyi, who died of gunshot wounds on January 22, 2014. It was then that the minions of the criminal regime started shooting at the activists. And by February 18, 9 more people became their victims. It was on this day that the situation escalated - and the defenders of the regime started shooting at the crowd with military weapons. From February 18 to 20, at least 78 people died, more than 600 were injured, including serious ones. So in the following days, despite the official end of the confrontation, another 20 people died. So, although the dead almost immediately began to be called the "Heavenly Hundred", there were a little more than 100 people. According to the latest data - 108.

And on February 20, the current government of Ukraine almost unanimously condemned the violence and ordered all members of the Security Service of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Ministry of Defense to stop using force against protesters. This became the reason for the renewal of negotiations, one of the results of which was the escape of Viktor Yanukovych and other leaders of the criminal regime.

On February 11, 2015, by decree of the new democratically elected president of Ukraine, February 20 was officially recognized as the Day of Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred. 105 dead citizens of Ukraine were posthumously awarded the title "Hero of Ukraine", and three dead foreigners were posthumously awarded the Order of Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred.

Traditions of the Day of Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred

Day of Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred

Despite the fact that this memorable event happened relatively recently, traditions have already formed around it. For example, a commemorative march to the Alley of Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred, laying of flowers and lamps at the memorial in honor of the dead, as well as solemn memorial services in all major cathedrals of the capital and commemorative concerts. Various commemorative events are also held in other cities - exhibitions, thematic lectures, viewing of documentaries devoted to those events, commemorative processions, etc. However, due to the martial law, it is unlikely that there will be many mass events in 2024.

Congratulations on the Day of Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred

It is quite difficult to choose the words to adequately convey all the respect for the feat of the heroes of the Maidan. It's difficult, but you can try. So Guide Online will now tell you some good text greetings and poems for the Day of Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred

***

Not people on the Maidan - Gods are walking

These guys are outstanding in body and spirit

Their words are sincere and eloquent

They are the glorious blues of Ukraine!

Thank you all victorious brothers,

A low bow from the heart to the ground,

You didn't light a bonfire on the street,

And in the heart of the skin thirst to fight!

Thank you for every day and minute,

What a time you had on the Maidan!

You protected the entire people and the country

From the black caustic plague.

Thank you for standing strong

They stood because they didn't know the turn...

Thanks to the wounded and dead,

Because you did not hide your lives from bullets!

Thanks to everyone who was here on the Maidan

And who still hasn't folded their hands

Thanks to those who follow us

Who cried bitterly, believed and begged...

Thank you from the heart and soul,

I sincerely and fervently say this!

How to shout: "Glory to Ukraine!"

"Newbies glory!" - I will always say!

Conclusion

If it were not for the feat of the heroes of the Maidan, there would be no free Ukraine, which actively moves towards the European community and heroically defends its independence. And if we lived now under the rule of another pro-Russian dictator - the example of Belarus, where the people were not ready to actively fight and die for their freedom, is the best confirmation of that. And although many new heroes continue to fight for the ideals of freedom, independence and normal human values, it is always important to remember those who came first. For this reason, we celebrate the Day of Remembrance of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred.
